Delaware is commonly known as the First state as it became the first of the
original 13 states on Dec 7, 1787. Delaware is also known as the diamond state
as it was said to be referred to as a jewel by Thomas Jefferson.
Origin of state’s name: The word Delaware owes it origin to the name De La Warr
who was a governor of Virginia.
Capital City: The capital of Delaware is Dover and he state is bordered by New
Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland and has a small amount of Atlantic Ocean
exposure with coastline of approximately 29miles
