Moving to Arkansas

Arkansas is also commonly known as the “Natural State” became the 25th state on June 15th 1836. The state has an abundance of wildlife and is recognized throughout the world for its natural beauty.

State Bird: the state bird is the Mocking Bird or Turdus Polyglottus which is characterized by its beautiful singing voice and animated movement. The Mocking Bird is also the state bird for Florida and Tennessee.

State Flower: The state flower is the Apple Blossom or Pyrus coronaria. At one time the state of Arkansas was a major apple growing state and the each year there is an apple festival in the town of Lincoln, Arkansas.

State Tree: The state tress is the pine tree.

A person from Arkansas is called an Arkansan.
The diamond is the official state gem. It was designated in 1967.
Milk is the official state beverage. It was designated in 1985.
Arkansas contains over 600,000 acres of lakes and 9,700 miles of streams and rivers.
The Ozark National Forest covers more than one million acres.
The Arkansas River is the longest stream to flow into the Mississippi-Missouri river system. Its total length is 1,450 miles.
The famous Hot Springs National Park is located in Arkansas. The park is entirely surrounded by the city of Hot Springs, the boyhood home of President Bill Clinton. A total of 47 hot springs flow from the southwestern slope of Hot Springs Mountain, at an average temperature of 143 F.
Famous People

Many famous people were born and raised in Arkansas and many famous people call Arkansas their home. This includes actors, athletes, authors, politicians and entertainers. Arguably the most famous is William H Jefferson (Bill) Clinton who was born in Hope Arkansas on August 19, 1946. William H Jefferson Clinton became the 42nd president of the United States and served for two terms from 1993 to 2001. The famous Wal-Mart founder, Sam Walton founded his first store in Bentonville and Johnny Cash, the world famous singer was born in Kingsland, Arkansas. Scott Joplin, the famous musician and composer also hails from Arkansas.
